my chick has this stringish looking thing on her butt. i think it might be a leaf she ate that got pooped out but i dont know how to get rid of it. it might be stuck in her butt or just poo that dried on her fluff. help please, i’ve wiped her off a bit but when i tried pulling it a bit she started chirping a lot. also she seems less energetic than before. what should i do?

Hi! Welcome to BYC!

She might have pasty butt. Try soaking her butt in warm water for a few minutes. She may or may not like that. Then take a soft rag or paper towel and try get that off. Blow dry her on LOW so she's not wet when put back into the brooder.
If she keeps doing that, you can put a spot of olive oil or other light oil like that on her vent to help prevent poop from sticking.

You said it might be a leaf. They shouldn't get anything other than chick crumbles for the first few weeks of their lives. If then we feed them anything but crumbles or scrambled eggs, they'll need grit to be able to digest it.

The wings losing their fluffiness is from her feathers starting to come in.

i cant tell if its actually in her butt tho or if its just something that dried on her fluff

also i tried holding her in the water but she started chirping a lot and i dont think she likes it

Pretty sure that's just the dried up umbilical cord.4 days is on the long side for it to still be there but it should not be forced to detach.
