Since you all are the experts I'm sure I don't have to tell you this but 3 are buff orpingtons about 11 weeks old and 1 black sex link that is about 6 weeks old. I have been told they are all pullets but I'm hoping you can confirm it.

the orps are all pullets

the black is not a sex link

as its a roo and sex link roos are barred and all sexlink have yellow shanks

so a roo but of another breed

btw I have roos that look just like him

he to me looks like a straight combed EE specially with the black shanks
same as what I have

Thanks, I may be able to take him back and exchange him. Do you have pics of what a young black sex link should look like?

What about him tells you he is not a black sex link and not a pullet? If I go back I don't want to make the same mistake and when I Google images of black sex link pullets they look almost exactly like this guy.

What ever he/she is, the buffs sure aren't very nice to it...

Habibs Hens gave you some info as to why it isn't a Black Sex Link.

As for why it's a roo - the comb on it is huge for a 6 week old chick. Compare his comb with that of your BO's. The combs on the BO's are almost non-existent and they are older than the black chick, who has quite the headgear.

I don't kno how but I skipped over the "yellow shank" part. I remember the first one I picked up had yellow shanks but was missing both middle claws so I grabbed this one. Thanks for the info.

I am by no means trying to argue but have a question about the yellow shank part. When googling pics of black sex links there are quite a few with black shanks. I see the big comb so agree it is likely a rooster but am trying to learn a little more about identifying before I go back.

So pretty much this color or black, yellow shanks, and a small comb. Is there anything else you can tell me that will be helpful?
