My sister was letting out the chickens this morning and the rooster started attacking her and so she kicked him trying to be gentle and she hit his beak and the top part came off but it's still attached underneath. He keeps trying to get rid of it. He's not bleeding but he can't eat or drink with it like that. How do I remove it?? Please help!!!!!

Oh dear. I'm sorry. I can only say what I would do as Ive never had this experience. I would hold him and try to gently pull that off or clip it as close to where it is still attached. Keep him separate and clean the area a few times a day and use vetericyn or antibiotic cream on it. Feed him softened food till healed.

I am calling a vet and after research online I think I should flip the beak back and glue it. The vet is going to call me back. He cannot eat because it is so painful. I tried to give him yogurt and he pulled back super quick. I'm so worried! I am going to text the vet a pic now.

Vet said snip beak off with sharp scissors and then give him poultry nurtridrench. I have been dropper watering him and giving him a bit of milk. How often will he need water?

That's almost exactly what the vet said! I'm getting the stuff for him now. He has water but I don't think he is drinking so every twenty minutes or so I go out and give him water from a dropper.

A quick update: he has been doing great! I got the beak tip off and have been applying neosporin so it won't be as painful as well as giving nutridrench every day. He seems to be eating and he is drinking on his own. I kept him away from the hens that day it happened and he would not drink on his own. When it was time for them to be locked up I put him back so he could go into the coop and as soon as he got back with the hens he drank on his own!!!!! He is staying with the hens now and they don't peck him and he is much happier.
