It's the twenty-forth day and five out of 18 hatched. I did the float test this morning and all off the eggs floated roughly where the air cell line is, what does this mean? how long should I leave them in?
I cracked one open,it was dead with an unabsorbed yolk and a lot of water, what did I do wrong?:hit

At 24 days I would figure the rest are no good and would get rid of them. Incubating is a tricky thing. Correct temperatures and humidity are necessary as well as proper handling and turning of the eggs. Hard to say what went wrong.

If they didn't bounce around after being in the water for a bit, they're dead.
Eggtopsies are important to get to the bottom of the problem.
Successful incubation requires attention to lots of things. Temperature and turning being most important.
Dead embryos at day 18, just a few of the possible causes in order of likelihood are:
Temperature, humidity, turning, ventilation, contamination (as from molds), nutritional deficiencies in breeders (vitamins A, D, E, K, B12, thiamin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, biotin, folic acid, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, manganese or linoleic acid). Any of those nutrients being in low supply in the yolk can cause early failure.
breeder diseases.
