So I have 5 alysbury ducklings due to hatch today or tomorrow. Already 3 of the eggs have externally pipped, but so far that's all. I was debating taking the incubator home over the weekend to keep a better eye on them... Would it be ok to quickly lift the lid to put them in eggs cartons or something that won't roll around? Also, would it b ok for them to be unplugged for 7/8 mins while I get them home?

Please let me know asap!

Thanks

Ducklings can take up to 2-3 days to hatch from external pip to finish. You could take them home, but be very, very careful and try and keep the move as short as possible. Are you going to transport them in cartons in the incubator? Then take them out when you get home? That should be o.k. Just get your humidity to where it should be asap after the move and try not to open the incubator again over the weekend. Good luck with the move and the hatch!

Thank you so much for your advice! I did take them home and I am so glad! I got to see them hatch and now I have 5 beautiful ducklings <3 I am enjoying them soo much!

I have a few concerns I thought someone could help me with.. One of the ducklings hatched with his feet bent backwards. Since then, one of his feet has straightened out completely and is looking fab, but the other is still bent. Is there anything I can do to help it straighten out? Because the joint is so bent, I'm afraid of hurting him.

Also, just recently, one of the other ducklings seems to be loosing some feathers on the top of her head and is looking a bit bald on top!! She didn't look like this before.. Also her right eye is closed a lot and not looking quite right... Like it has a covering over it sometimes. She also seems quite tired recently.

I would appreciate any help!!

Thanks again!
