I am rebuilding my chicken flock and want a few genuinely broody, full-sized hens. In the past, certain hens just went broody whether it was convenient (for me) or not. Often is it was not, when I was trying to get eggs for eating. So, buying a few to keep penned separate from my free range layers will keep us supplied with eggs and prevent broodies from "adopting" other girls' nest eggs. I heard somethiing about a buff colored breed. Can anyone fill in the blanks? thanks
