Hello again...
Ok, it's been one week since my 6 going on 7th month old Chinese goose won't leave her nest. I have taken all the eggs she has laid so far, about a dozen in the past two weeks. She has laid "0" since she's been broody. Is that correct to say broody as in chickens? I don't know too much about geese. How long will she do this? I can't watch them 24/7 but I don't think she's been getting up to drink or eat. When I change their water and bring in their food...I've been picking her up and bringing her over to the water bucket. Eventually she will take a drink or two. She keeps her legs drawn up and goes right back to the nest when I let her go. Again, there are no eggs in the nest, but she continues to want to lay there. Today, the temp. went up into the 30's so I filled their pool and put Abigail in it. I guess I was hoping it would "break the spell"... but it didn't
Is this normal geese behavior and I shouldn't worry over it?
