I have a bunch of chicks that were hatched from eggs I bought. They should be NHRs... however... I have wheaten penedesencas and wheaten marans and these are looking very light for "red" and starting to look just like wheatens.

HELP! Please... show off your New Hampshires. I NEED New Hampshires for a breeding program, so give me your best shots. I may need to buy some hatching eggs if these aren't right afterall.

Thanks in advance.

Any chick to adult pics will help. I know you got them!

I only have one girl left out of 5 I got from a hatchery, but. . . She's from a hatchery.

So she, conformationally, won't look as the standard calls for.

well maybe I'm over-reacting then... They sure do look alot like wheatens though. I have two males... they have some white on the tips of their wings. At least there is only two, huh?

Thanks for your help! Right before bed too! I can sleep better!

I used to make the same mistake, but they are just New Hampshires, not New Hampshire Reds. I figure since you're talking about purebred chicks, you ought to use the correct name. I've seen them called New Hampshire Reds on at least one hatchery website; it is a common mistake.

What is the breeding program you have in mind? I've been looking for old-timey New Hampshires (the meaty type) without any luck.

There is a New Hampshire thread in this forum with some pictures you might find useful.

That might be the issue... I'm not a NH type person. What I was/am trying to do is recreate the Delaware from scratch. yes, I'm aware it may take my entire life, but I'm young and love Dels... so I figure I'd try and see what happens.

I'll try to find that thread. Thanks for the help!

Illia - I don't have pictures at this moment... give me some time tonight and I will take and post some.

Wait, why are you trying to create Delawares from scratch? They do exist and are available to buy, you know.
