I have a very determined Racoon that was able to get a hold of one of the ladies two days ago, She appears unhurt, yet missing about a quarter of her feathers on tail and neck. I've cleaned her as best as I could, and she is in her own coop resting. She's not taking water by herself so I'm eyedropping water to her, she seems to be perking up and attempting to move slightly. My question is has anyone had luck with such a wounded bird? And any hints as to anything else that may help. Thank you.

A plucking hurts like heck, but should not cause any lasting damage. She is probably just stressed out from the experience, and sometimes stress can be more dangerous than an actual injury. Let her rest and give her some time. You did the right thing by keeping her hydrated. Hopefully she will soon start drinking on her own.

I had a hen once that lost an 8x8" swatch of skin down to the muscle. Believe it or not, she survived that. Chickens are tough as an old boot. Your girl should be OK.

Good luck.
