He is scared of us sometimes but when i try to pick up a hen he comes over to me, clucks and gives me a look.Sometimes he thinks he is the boss but he knows he isn't.He wants to be the only chicken in the whole pin-who can shake a tail feather but the hens don't take attitude from him.Usually the hens do whatever they want. Plus: the other or bigger hens pick on the littlest of them all.

Well, my barred rocks were mean, my partridge rock has a mean streak and my white rock is an angel! go figure.

Sometimes it depends on how you treat 'em. If you treat him good then he will most likely be tame but if you treat him bad he will probaly be mean his whole life. Then again they could be mean no matter how you treat'em. Who knows?

I have two ply. rocks and they are both very gentle. One wants me to pet her everytime I get in the coop.

I have two New Hamp. Reds and one is mean. She tries to peck me and always wants the treats first.

I got all four at the same time of the same age and three out of four are nice and one mean one. I think it might just depend on the chicks personality (is this spelled right).

My hens are all sweet, my roo was EVIL!!!!! But I diddnt know how to treat him when they were younger, and when he started coming at me, I went after him. So I reinforced in his mind that I was a threat.

Read Rooster Red's articles in the learning center about it. I think this was my first question on here, in fact!

I have partridge rocks, and I am trying again now. I have three eight week old roos and I am going to see if one of them is any nicer. If they are all mean, i will keep one and keep him penned up. I want to breed them.

He wasnt so bad to me, but he was really dangerous to the kids. So I am taking no chances next time. If he is mean, he is getting put in a cage in the daytime.
