i jut got two new hens yesterday adults and they haven't payed there eggs yet when will they I put other eggs in the nesting box to show them the kinda sat on the eggs for a while and then got up without laying a egg I just got hem yesterday

1st how old are they it could be they are too young
2nd stress if they are stressed from moving they will not lay
3rd have you checked them over they may have mites or be sick
and 4th if they are around 4 and up their laying amount may be slowing

or today could be a off day since hens don't usually lay a egg every day it would help to know their breed

They are 1 and a half years old they don't have mites so I think it is stress thank tou

It can take some hens up to a month to adjust to a new home and start laying.

They won't forget how to lay eggs - just adjusting. Everything wants to kill or eat chickens, so they are very wary and stressed by new things. When they feel secure they will go back to laying.
