My backyard where my chicks will free range is surrounded by woods. Will they be in danger if they eat the poison ivy in the woods surrounding the yard? Do they have a good sense of what to eat and what not?

I did a search and found a post which said it is OK for them to eat poison ivy. Could this be true? It seems like it would hurt them. I am new to chicks and a little afraid to let them roam.

I wouldn't be afraid of them eating it; they know what is good and what to stear clear of. However, if they rub up against it and then you pick them up, the oil could transfer to your skin. If you or someone in your house is really sensitive, this could be a problem.

Oh OK thanks so much for the reply. I am happy to hear that they know what to stay clear of. I wonder if they know even at 6 weeks old?
