They look like cane toads (Bufo) but they also look like southern toads. You are not supposed to kiss or lick either one. Where are you located?

If it helps, our feral and aviary chickens come across cane toads every single day. They're everywhere. The chickens seem to ignore them even when the toads are sitting in their bowl and eating their food. There are no ill effects and the chickens seem to know to leave them alone.. The toads also eat the dog's food.

I will take more pictures tomorrow, thankfully I have not kissed or licked any!

Wow, I didn't think chickens would leave them alone like that. They don't bother the food or anything but my chickens will see them hopping around before I let them free range and try to chase and eat them.
Thank you for that information!

Most regions of the U.S. have some kind of toad and many of them can ooze white poisonous stuff from their back. If you peck or kiss one you get some of that stuff in your mouth. Sometimes it's hallucinogenic. You probably won't die, but you'll learn to never do it again. Check your region.

Most toads are reclusive. But, the invasive cane toad over-populates. Even though they only come out of hiding a few nights each week, it seems like they are everywhere.

I just lost a dog to these invaders last Wed...and I was wondering if they will kill any chickens I get as well. If anyone has info on chicken interactions, please let me know.
DO NOT HANDLE THEM...if you get the poison in your mouth or nose, it can kill you.

I think that they probably would kill the chicken's too. You know how they like to peck at everything. Here in the Arizona desert they seem to come out when the monsoon's start. I think that is because they need the water for the reproduction process of those egg's to make more babies of them. So, keep an eye on your chicken water pan's too, as they can hop up into those too. I have even seen them in a 5-gallon bucket and don't know how they got up there in it.

We have a lot of small ponds. It is not uncommon to see swarms of baby bofos like that coming out of a pond where they hatched. Our chickens grew up with them. Maybe leaving them along is a cultural thing they learn from their parents. But, that wouldn't explain why they haven't killed the dogs either.
