I have two polish chickens that I hatched from eggs I purchased. The person who I got the eggs from has several different colors of polish chickens in together. I want to raise more polish chickens and am looking for more eggs for the incubator. Do I need to keep them seperated by color or does it matter if they are mixed? I guess what I'm asking is if I have a white crested black polish rooster and a buffed laced polish hen, will the chicks be considered a mixed breed?

I just love Polish Chickens for there temperment!

They would not be considered a mixed breed, as both parents would be polish. They would be mixed colors, and they would not be showable. If you want to breed to standard you'll need to seperate by variety. The only exceptions are blue/black/splash and choc/khaki/black.

Thanks Julie! Now the trick is going to be finding someone who isn't 1000 miles away to purchase the hatching eggs from!

Hi! Just happened to see your post. I have two dozen Polish eggs ready to be mailed out immediately, as a buyer backed out. I just put an ad up under eggs for sale. You can see photos of some of my chicks I hatched this spring. I live in Maryland, so not too far from you. Thanks.
