Good morning everyone, random chick question time. I got a dozen of assorted polish chicks from a bigger hatchery the other day. 2 of them have barely noticeable crest and I have not seen that in any of my polish babies before. Is that just poor genetics? Or does this get into the vaulted vs non vaulted skull, like in silkies? Or did a sneaky rooster get in the wrong hen pen? It's just a curious thing, all input is welcome! I believe this to be a golden laced and a buff laced based on feathers coming in. (And please ignore the pj pants in the pictures, lol)

It looks like they do have some crest. I had 3 buff laced polish chicks, and they all had slightly different sized "crest bumps". They all are growing up with nice crests. Since your chicks have a noticeable bump, I wouldn't worry. I don't know about the genetics or vaulted skulls, but they're probably fine.
