Polish Crest Feathers

I have questions.

So I've seen lots of different kinds of polish chickens, some with long stringy crest feathers, some with big wide crest feathers, and some with wide pointy feathers. I have a tolbunt frizzled polish with wide feathers, although they don't stick together well in the front (maybe that's a thing, idk?) so they don't look as big and beautiful as her smooth sister's (unfortunately, she didn't make it :hit sad sad day, I was beside myself, we lost her not even a week after we got her). Im looking for a mate for her to produce some unique babies, but I want to keep that big beautiful wide feather on top of their heads. I've had a hard time finding a polish rooster with the type of feathers I'm looking for and I was curious as to whether that's a female trait, a gene trait, or something else? I've googled everything I could think of and can't seem to find a name for this particular trait. I found a woman with a silver laced polish roo that I'm interested in, but I'm afraid their offspring will end up with these odd pointed feathers (which is okay, but man, my sweet tolbunt that didn't make it just had the most beautiful crest... I don't want to make the 6 hour drive to obtain another one or a roo from the same breeder, not to mention, they were $50 birds). I also noticed that the rooster is not bearded, I think? The two I have (had) seems to have full feathers all the way around, their crest just seems to blend right in to the rest of their feathers. The rooster doesn't really have that.

Listen, I'm no breeder of fantastic birds, I bought these beautiful girls from a show breeder just because I thought they were gorgeous and I wanted some beautiful lawn ornaments. Since then, one of our chickens ran off and hatched THIRTEEN babies and brought them home (they're about 2 weeks old now and she's only lost 1, all are healthy and happy, but they're also mutt chickens. Mama is an EE and daddy is a silkie... they're gonna be some odd birds!). Well, the hubby swears I'm the crazy chicken lady and that I can't have anymore chickens. He acts like he doesn't like them but I catch him snuggling them in the morning when he lets them out of the coop. Since that mama hen had her babies, he's more interested in letting the frizzle have some babies with the Silkie, he even asked his father if we could have one of his incubators (that incubates a 100 eggs at a time) and brooders... Mmhmm, who's the crazy chicken lady now?? We have a rainbow flock, so I've found a BCM roo, an Ameracauna Roo, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte Roo to produce some pure breeds and some Olive Eggers. We want to do a little experimenting, so this is a project for us, but I think it's going to be great fun! Plus we can make a little extra cash in the mean time. Anyway, thats why I'm not the most knowledgeable concerning my polish girls, I don't really know what I'm getting into, but I hope I can learn a lot from the experience. Please don't judge me!

Nonetheless, I'd like some opinions! What do you think about the roo I found? What else would you suggest? Also, how do you think the tolbunt and the silver laced colors will mix? I'm hoping to have some neat looking birds!

First two pictures are of my frizzle (the first with her sister), the next two are of the rooster I'm interested in.

That's how polish cockerels crests are. Hens have more globular crests, cockerels are more oblong and pointed. I don't know much about mixing colours, sorry

Huh! I didn't know that, very cool. So I should be okay with the rooster I found? What do y'all think about the mix of colors? Also, can I see some polish chickens! I love them so much I just want to see them allllll :wee

He's a very pretty boy. Judging by the colours you'd get some mixed chicks with brown, white and black in, some might have lacing and some slightly frizzled chicks, maybe a few full frizzled, this is just a guess, sometimes mixing colours is like giving a child paint.

This are two of my pullets from last year
