I have an approximately 10 week old crested Polish pullet. She is the absolute sweetest. However, my other (non crested) pullets are pecking at her relentlessly over the last two days. She is so docile and sweet, but currently we are nursing some pretty gnarly head issues. She is getting topical antibiotics and wound spray and blue healer ointment 3 times a day (doesn't help much when she rubs it off). I have also trimmed her so she is not so appealing to peck at.
She is absolutely NOT okay being separated from her flock. I have separated her in my house where she will squawk for an hour straight while hitting her head on the side of the tote or dog crate, tried both in the coop to the same result.
The hens have a large run, and a few hours of free range a day. They have toys in the coop and can scavenge all day for gubterras so they have plenty to "do" so I don't think this is a boredom issue.
Is there a solution here or is the best solution finding her a new, more accepting flock?
