Polish injury

Our hen Hen with no name, yes thats her name, has a pecking injury. I discovered it this morning. The flock was fine for over a year. We accidently got 2 roos, the one would pick on her, so they have been seperated from the flock for about a week now waiting to move to their new home. This morning I went out and Hen was bleeding! I brought her in cleaned her up, used verteicyn antimicrobial spray, tied her "hair" back hiding the wound and gave her a quick trim.
I put her back out and they all seem fine now. But Ive never had to tie back and Im not sure if its ok?

cleaning the injury is crucial, and by tying her hair back you did good, as this would prevent any feathers getting into the wound. when you clean it next I would suggest tying her hair back again, only putting it down once she is done.

I had 2 Polish hens with the same white pom pom. Each would be pecked bloody at different times by the other flock members. I always had good luck with spraying BluKote spray on the red to hide the red blood, which prevented more pecking. If the wound is very bloody, it mY be best to separate for a day or so until the bright red is scabbing. If you catch this early before they have caused a bloody mess, the BluKote can help stop it before it gets bad.
