My Polish, Phyllis, had been laying about every other to every two days. Got about a dozen eggs, she’s coming up on 7 months. She hasn’t laid an egg in almost two weeks. I do let them free range in the yard but I’m out there with her, so I don’t think she’s hiding them. She is acting normal and healthy. Don’t feel anything stuck in her bum. She appears to be the head hen. Bossy little missy. Would that keep her from laying? It is getting cooler but would she stop all together?

hope you don't mind me piggy backing off this older thread--I have 2 Polish that are 10 months now and they stopped laying at the end of October. They both had a light molt at the end of November but have all feathers back. Still haven't started to lay again. I do know that they aren't the most cold hardy and are only estimated to lay 100-150 eggs/yr depending on where you get your info from so should I expect to see some eggs here starting in Feb or do you think more like March? They are healthy, eating, trilling, running, etc.

Hopefully we just have free loaders. Lol.
Yeah, luckily they are cute and I don't have a desire to cull or sell them but an egg here and there would be nice.

Have yours started laying at all?

I even spent like 20 min digging in the straw/pine shavings on the floor of the coop to see if they hide in during the cold snap as everyone else has ramped up laying here with the longer daylight

I think i said I got a dozen but that was a total between her and my little egg laying frizzle beast. Phyllis has given me about 4-5 Then just quit. My frizzle, Lucille, hasn’t stopped at all. I still get one every other day from her. I figure when spring, and more sun arrives, Phyllis and my other two freeloaders, will start handling up. 😂 My two Roos won’t leave my frizzle alone though. It’s like they know she’s the only one working.
