I have 5 silkie pullets, I'm being given some sizzles, and I'm going to be given some buff laced Polish standard eggs.
I plan to rehome cockerels keep hens b/c I'm in the semi-suburbs. Does anyone see a problem with a few Polish hens getting along with the other cresteds?
My other breed I'm starting with is Belgian D'anvers --pullets only. I plan to keep the D'anvers in their own coops & run/tractor everyone together daily.

Who might pick on whom here?

It all depends on the INDIVIDUAL birds. I tried to move a silkie hen yesterday--not a happy event--she was starting hen fights with all the other adult birds (both the hens and the cockerel) in the tractor where I want her. These are all silkies. In my polish pen I have both polish and silkies with no problems, but I have tried a different (and tiny) silkie hen in there and she, too tried to terrorize all the other hens. I never have to worry about the small ones getting beat up--it's the larger birds who are at risk!

Were the chickens raised together or seperate then put together?

I generally raise all chicks together, then separate when they are of breeding age (or separate the keepers from those I do not plan to keep). I have found that when birds of different appearance are raised together they easily accept other birds (ignoring personality for the moment); when birds are only raised with similar looking birds (for example all the same variety and breed) they are not tolerant of birds who appear different, be the difference variety or breed, although variety is more likely to make a difference. For example, buff polish who have always been segregated by breed and variety are more likely to accept a buff silkie than a black polish.

My chocolate pen has both silkies and polish in chocolate, khaki and black. I just pulled out a mottled cross to put him in a breeding pen with a black silkie. However, as chicks the birds were in with other varieties: blue, splash, partridge, buff, calico, ...
