I have never had polish chickens before, so not sure if this is normal behavior for a polish rooster. My first thoughts were the rooster was just checking out my flowery flip flops and was pecking at the flowers. This has been going on for about a week. Today when I went in to the coop to feed and water I wore solid colored flip flops. He pecked not my shoes but my ankle. I only had a paper plate that I used to swat him away. He kept coming at me. What do I do now. This polish is turning into a problem. Like I said, I have never had polish chickens before. Is this normal? All my other breeds of roosters are nice.

Honestly, teaching them to fear you has worked best for me... If my rooster (cockerel) ever attacked me, you bet he would be hiding in the woods in a split second. I don't suggest hand raising roosters either since it just teaches them more about you and they get less nervous.

How old is your rooster?

Both hens and roosters of any breed can be prone to peck at feet especially if you are wearing colorful/decorated shoes or flip flops (they love anything shiny and wiggly worm looking toes). I would recommend solid topped shoes and walking through him like he's not even there. If he starts to actually spur you I would personally get rid of him. I don't keep roosters that are aggressive towards humans or hens. My Polish is a gentleman and steps out of our path when we walk.

I have a pair of flip flops with a flower pattern made of multicolored gems...
I wore them around the chickens one time, when I was in a hurry (and then had to wash them, ick). They were eyeing off my toes something fierce, lol. No one dared peck, because I move into presence pressure rather than away (think of what lures a cat and don't do it) because of my experience with horses.

Before you make a judgment call on this rooster, you should try wearing boring shoes for a while and behaving as a confident giant human who is too busy to be an object of interest.
If after 1-2 weeks or so of consistently doing that, he still shows any aggressive / pecky behavior, then it's his personality and not worth keeping.

My sister in law got the polish chicks

for me in early spring. He has been crowing for several months. The hens started laying eggs about 3 weeks ago.

I will try boots tomorrow. Thanks

Sounds like he is on his way to a delicious stew pot if he doesn't stop that.
