Hello all. I started up the homemade incubator today but I am concerned with the smell. I put 2 coats of polyurethane on it about a week ago and it still smells. Is it gonna be a problem?

Thanks,
Stuart

I dont think that is going to go well, eggs are very porous and soak in all the outside stuff. I would have chosen an outdoor latex if it just had to be painted with something. post pics and maybe someone will have more ideas on what to do next.

Run it for awhile and see if it cooks off. Alot of products need to get baked in. But their lungs are small and it wont take much to OD them on fumes.

I ran my new incubator empty for a week. In part to learn it's ins and outs so far as temperature and humidity goes as well as to be sure anything that was going to outgas anything harmful would be finished before I put the first eggs in.

.....Alan.
