I've spent about twenty minute searching man made ponds, but to no avail. Many of the articles show what didn't work, does anyone know of someone that has a pond in their backyard that was successful and has a "how to" article/video so to speak? We have three ponds but do not want out birds in those as they are massively large and the thought of them not coming back, yeah I'm not to keen on. Thanks for any help and (sorry if this is in the wrong forum).

Questions:

How many ducks do you have & how big of a pond do you want to make?

Stock tanks are a really easy solution if you’re looking for something that’s not huge. You can leave them above ground with a wide ramp, or trench them into the ground.

Maybe you were looking for something with a pond liner instead?

The BYC search engine should give you at least a few pond ideas.

Thank you, that’s a great idea. We actually use a stock tank now. However, since posting and browsing we’ve decided to use our gazebo to transform it into a new beach area for them...I’ll be sure to post updates here. Thank you for your feedback.

Wow! That sounds amazing. I can’t wait to see the pics.

I have been playing with the idea of writing a book about building ponds that work. I have a very rudimentary start, about 26 pages. It is a word doc so I can't attach it but if you wouldn't mind an e-mail can send it. If it helps (or if it doesn't) I could use some feedback on the direction I need to go to make it useful. The pond is designed for fish but would work for ducks too. let me know if you want it

That would be a really cool & useful BYC article. If you can write an abridged version & attach pics that would be great.

If you ever decide to do this, be sure to link it here so we can find it.

I had a similar idea until realized it's really too hard to be made. Anyway if you will do it don't forget to keep it clean all the time. In my case I didn't make the pond but my neighbor did and he keeps his one really clean. You should check these things before starting the work.

OK, gonna try and post this. Urban Sasquatch Farms is my brother's FB page. the books I am working on are for his site. This is very rudimentary but it will give you some pointers. and I welcome any feedback that will help me tur it into a useful text. BTW there are pictures but you have to get a few pages in. patience is a virtue!
