Poo Covered eggs/ Cleaned Best able too But bator stinks

I bought sme quail eggs both button and quirtnex and some were covered in poo so bad I put them in wet papertowels and could not get the poo evenclose to being off. I tried to just pick away the poo but ended up breaking the eggs. There was like a straw mix in the hard poo. I quess my question is, should I take those eggs out or just let it go and see what happens? if the bator smells then i'd say you have rotten eggs. Id remove the dirty eggs.

Also not that im the coturnix police or anything haha but it's spelled Coturnix

You definitely got some bad eggs. If they were that covered in poo and straw, then they were old eggs. It's normal to have a little poo but washing it off can actually push the bacteria into the eggs. I never wash them before incubating and they hatch ok. They should never smell bad; I'd get them out in case they explode.

You should be aware that healthy quail like clean living area's, if the eggs were in that bad a shape it should be a signal that all is not as it should be. just a little note.

I got the eggs friday May 29th and set them on sunday the 31st. I did what alot of people say to do and just wipe away the dried poo. But some like I said were bad enough I put them in wet papertowels and ended up cracking the eggs gently wiping them. Do you really think they are bad already? That will take out more than half of what I have. Please don't tell me I got screwed again. Money out still no eggs . Promised refund nothing yet. Give more info, please.

I hope your luck changes, it's bound to. Maybe you should stick to folks you know and trust locally if possible for the time being.

or possibly buy off ebay... the buyer/seller feedback there affects their sales, and their ability to sell

Where do you live? You need to find someone on our site who is close to you and get eggs from them most of us are willing to help out. We know there are a few bad eggs out there but most of us like what we do and encourage others to enjoy our hobby. I've made some nice friends on the board and I got to say don't give up!
