I have a hen that has gotten lethargic and has vent feathers that are getting covered with sticky poo. Had the same thing happen to another hen several months ago. Lost that hen after several weeks. All other chickens are fine. Any ideas what is wrong and how to handle it.

Hi. You can cut off the dirty feathers. How old is she? If she is young, I would consider coccidiosis which would need to be treated right away.

Or worms-if you haven't wormed them and they are 4 months or older.

Check them for lice and mites. That can suck the energy out of them.

She is one or two years old not sure. I have been checking the poo in the coop and haven't found any sign of parasites, They were wormed last year.
