Hey , Im really struggling with my chickens poop. we have 6 hens and 1 rooster. All appear to be healthy (baucking, cooing, scratching, pecking, the rooster is crowing and mating) but their poops are alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll over the place. from the perfect solid brown with white spot poop to yellow foam, to a mixture of those two, to light brown diarrhea, to piles of poop under their roosts that literally look like you just cooked up some hamburger meat (sorry for that reference, but its looks like ground beef sitting in grease. so its mostly firm poop but clear wetness mixed in) Im confident I had a corridossis (or what ever its called) out break a month ago because one bird died and another was pooping straight blood. I did a 5 day treatment of corrid and all poops seamed to be back to normal breifly. i just put them back on the corrid just incase i didnt completely wipe it out. but now after 5 days there is no change.... now again all chickens seem fine. and all the poops for each bird are not like this some are good, some are bad throughout the day. maybe more worse in the morning than the evening. I did have a mud/ moisture problem (we are in seattle) that Ive fixed with some landscaping and wood chips and other care.
do I need to worry? should i avoid eating the eggs?? should i treat for worms??? or just provide some probiotic water?????

have you looked up the chicken poop chart online? It's a really helpful visual on the spectrum of "normal" chicken poop

also clean under the roost, cut all treats for a few days, and look at the fresh poop and see if it changes at all

upload a few pics in this thread and there are some very experienced members that can help you out once they have a visual

Can you take a few fresh droppings to you vet tomorrow to look for worms and coccidiosis? The runny one in the third pic is a cecal poop, which is normal after every so many poops. How much Corid are you using in each gallon of water? I would clean out the droppings, and replace with clean pine shavings, then keep them stirred and dry.

Agreed, the runny one of the straw looks like normal cecal poop. I've also seen similar when the girls had lots of veggies/fruit with high water content, like after they get a chunk of watermelon or something. I'm not sure on the rest, but hopefully with the pics uploaded you can get more feedback.

5 days w/ 1 teaspoon per gallon

Try getting them on a probiotic or fermented feed. There is a how and why faq article about fermented feed in my signature.

Bacterial or cocci infection may be a possibility. Too many treats may be an other issue. Worms also a possibility. No matter what the underlying cause, getting the bacterial colonies in their guts may be a huge factor in fixing this issue. Don't throw medication at them unless you know what you are medicating them for.

Things you can do to provide good gut flora and immune systems: fermented feed, provide deep litter in your run.

5 days w/ 1 teaspoon per gallon
Liquid - Severe dose amount is 2 teaspoons per gallon for 5 days, then reduce to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon for 7-14 days.

Powder - Severe dose is no less than 1.5 teaspoons per gallon for 5 days, them reduce to 1/3 teaspoon per gallon for 7-14 days.

The above amounts are what the mfg, FDA, and FARAD recommend.
