Poop deck/Deep litter method

Do I need to have a poop deck below the roosts in the coop if I do the deep litter method? I'll probably put one in anyway but I was just curious.
10 hours of pooping in a confined space doesn't sound good to me, so Yes and that's what we do. Those suckers poop all night while they sleep and it's nice to not have to worry about a possible stink.

If you want to do a true composting deep litter, you want to the poop in the litter not on a board.
That’s what I was thinking. There’s plenty of ventilation and they’ll never be locked in there. They’ll always have access to the run.
