poop eating chickens

my chickens are total free rangers and have run of the local fields. i also keep mini-pigs and donkeys, and have noticed a lot of their 'poop' goes missing. i today spotted the chickens having a feast on the fresh drops and im curious if this is normal??? can they not catch something from eating another animals muck? and can it pass anything on into the eggs.......??

Chickens love to dig creepy crawlies out of other animals poop. They find undigested bits and pieces to eat. Absolutely, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Should have guessed, though. They eat everything else they can get their beaks on!

They even eat their own poop or other chickens poop!!!

This one reason I have to keep my dogs poop picked up. If I miss one...they are all over it like flies on....well, you know...
