I went to the garden today and I found a gross surprise. Some animal decided to poop right next to my cucumber plants.
I was wondering if anybody could help me determine what kind of animal was in my garden.

Here are the pictures:

I also have had this odd hole in my garden. It is about the size of a tennis ball in diameter, maybe a little smaller. I'm not sure how deep it goes. It has been there for a month or so.

I also had something stealing my strawberries a couple weeks ago too. They'd turn red and the animal would steal them before I had the chance to pick them.

I'm not sure if the strawberry thief, the hole and the poop is all related to the same animal or not.

I think groundhog if it is a daytime issue.Did you try your wildlife agency to id the poo??
Could you place a game cam??Would love to see the culprit.I had snails eat up my berries last year.

Its a ground hog for sure!!! I had one in my yard for a while this summer. It has been dispatched. As I have horses and they can break a leg in a hole!! They will clean out a garden very fast. My dogs do pretty well driving them off most of the time. But this one was stubborn.

That hole in the garden could be a rabbit nest. Rabbits will dig a hole like that and lay their babies in it, then cover it up with hair. The mother will lay next to it and nurse the young until they're old enough to get out on their own.

Thanks for all the help. The hole was about the size of a tennis ball in diameter. It has since been filled in and does not seem to be a problem anymore. I do however have a new problem. I have a hole some critter dug underneath my garden fence and today I discovered a nest in my turnip bed!

I'm thinking it might be a rabbit because we have so many around here. I'm going to move the nest to the other side of the fence and block the hole before this critter has babies in it.

Here are pictures:

Any idea on what critter this could be?
