i lost a chick this morning it was alot smaller than the other chicks thet are about 5 days old and i have another 1 that is just as small as the 1 that died and i noticed a few with real dirty butts im wandering if their vents are pluged how can i tell and if so how can i fix it

wash the butt with warm water just like a babys and make sure you dry it well so she doesnt get chilled...

sorry you lost one

thank you so much i havent seen her eat in a day no sooner than icleaned her butt she pooped and started eating

Very good!

Pasty butt is very common in chicks, especially if they get chilled, which would be very easy to happen this time of year. Just watch their little fuzzy bottoms and clean them off the first sign of them getting pasty.
