Poop stuck to feet

My babies are almost two weeks old. I think I am doing a pretty good job at keeping the brooder clean, yet they will get poop and pine shavings stuck to the bottom of their feet. What should I do? My husband said leave it along, but the mother in me wants to take care of it. I tried a damp paper towel but I didn't want to get them too wet and freaked out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Either wash the feet off or just let them be. It won't hurt them having dirty feet

and with how much they poo it's kind of hard to avoid them stepping in it.
