Can anyone tell me what is going on with chicken? 3 yrs old RIR/Leghorn mix. A few weeks ago I noticed her butt was absolutely gross and she was walking like an old lady hen. I gave her a bath and cleaned her up, saw no sign of mites or worms or anything. Today I find her the same way again. This time panting as well. Granted it's a hot day. The other 8 girls aren't panting. A few have normal looking dirty butt featherS, but this is a whole new level

Looks like we have water belly on our hands. My son is holding her in a towel, her eyes r closed. We are so upset.

I checked her vent and didn't feel any egg inside but with nine chickens and five of them laying brown eggs...I can't really tell. I've never worked any of my hens. I feed them Kambalach (?) and free ranging often. I would think with diet others would also have issues??

I think it's vent gleet.
You can do a warm epsom salt bath with 2 tbsp of Epsom salt. Soak for 10 mins.
There's a lot of other things that you can do to treat it, you can go to this link.
It also says what might have caused it.
I doubt that their diet caused it, because I have fed my chickies Kalmbach for the past 3-4 years or so as well and they haven't had any problems:)

This is def water belly. She is so full. We have her in hospice. She is too far gone...so sad.
