I have a small flock (16 hens), mostly chantecler with a few sex links. One of the chanteclers (about 14 mos old) has had a really poopy butt lately. She has lost a lot of weight, is lethargic, and has lost most of her appetite. She still eats a little, and drinks some, but not much. She has her tail down all the time also. I tried giving her some yogurt, but she had no interest (but boy did her sisters love it when I gave them the rest. Every time I have seen her trying to poo, she spends a long time and all that comes out is some thin white liquid.
I have looked pretty hard for worms in the droppings, but haven't found any. I inspected her and a few of the others for mites or something like that, but didn't see anything that I thought would be that. I did give her a bath and clipped some feathers back there which cleaned her up pretty good, but it is just getting bad again.
I have never dusted or wormed any of the flock, some of whom are 2 years old. I do dust the coop with DE every two weeks, and keep it pretty clean.
Any thoughts on what might be the problem? Whatever it is I need to get it under control before it starts to spread to the rest of the flock. Thanks
