I keep seeing that worms are a reason for hens to stop laying and poop on the eggs is the tell tale sign. What exactly does a "poopy egg" look like. How do these eggs look? Is that just dirt from all the rain we've had?

Those're just typical dirty chicken eggs. Nothing to be concerned about. A poopy egg doesn't always neccesarily mean theres worms. A quick check every day of their poop to make sure they're all worm free and an occasional deworming is good way to stay on top of things.

Yes understood that they stop or slow down laying during the winter. No signs of worms in the droppings. What do you think of the pumpkin seed/garlic and app,e cider vinegar as prevention/treatment for worms?

Garlic is toxic to animals, especially birds and isn't effective wormer, acv won't do a single thing, neither will de or chili flakes. Pumpkin seeds have a small bit of wormimg properties BUT they contain higher levels of antinutritional properties that cause issues and they simply aren't effective.

The ACV w/ mother, 1 Tbs/gallon, only every other day, is no miracle cure for anything, but has probiotics, kills bacteria, balances the PH in the bird, cleans the gut, etc.

A lot of things are prevention, but once our birds have something, such as worms, mites, etc., you then need the right product that can quickly do the job.

I'm not saying herbs don't help, it's just once your bird is sick, by the time they work, your bird has been suffering needlessly or could die. For instance, if you wanted to feed garlic and pumpkin seeds throughout their life, that's fine, and perhaps yours never would get worms, but once they get them, it's not going to help much.
