There is a poor little ground hog in a tree ( a 5 foot tall to limbed tree )

It looks like it might have been attacked and really seems in shock. I got with 5 feet of it and it did not even pay attention to me. He seemed to be zoned out in his own little world. He seems to still be young, could he be sick?

Just wondering.....
Thanks

I've seen them in trees many times. Last year I was afraid the stupid things were going to kill my mulberry tree by eating all the leaves off of it. Don't worry it will come down on it's own.

You have to scroll down a bit but it talks about thier tree climbing skills.

He may be sick, but the fact that he's in a tree is not unusual. They climb pretty good.

Well, who knew? I had never seen a ground hog until I moved to TN, and I sure didn't know they climbed trees. Every one I have seen were such fat roly poly buggers, I would not have thought they could climb.

X2! And I thought I knew alot about wildlife. Learn something new everyday! YEAH BYC'ers!!!

I did know about them being able to climb trees, but this poor guy didn't look right. It seemed very skinny and he looked like he might have been attacked. I might go down and see if he is still there and try and get some pictures.

I went back to look and he was gone, and the branch he was on was broken. I hope nothing happened to the poor guy.

Good ol whistle pigs. They climb trees fine. Now is end of hibernation, they are scrawny and rough looking. Plus, tend to be a bit slower. May have gone up to eat leaves or to avoid danger.
