Hi guys and gals!

Well...My chicken has no rooster. And she is broody! I'd like to get some fertile eggs and replace them with the infertile ones! What would be the best way without disturbing her? I don't want to mess up her groove! BTW, she is in no coop. She is in a box on top of my utility trailer.

Thanks for the help!

I would pick mine up and kick her out of the nest to eat and drink, and count her eggs. Her flock mates kept trying to give her more of them. She would come right back. We moved her into our house on day 18, and that didn't even phase her. I think giving her fertile eggs wouldn't bother her at all if she is truly in the broody mood.

You can check Craigslist for some eggs if you don't anyone that has some.

Be sure to mark the fertile eggs so that you will be able to tell which ones are which when you are switching them out.

Broodies can be lots of fun! Nasty and mean at times, but I think it is absolutely precious watching broodies care for their eggs and then raising their chicks.
