Is Dottie molting? Or is something else going on? She is 7 months old and the only one with this. We started noticing it about 3 days ago. For what it is worth, she is also the only one who has gone through being wickedly broody for almost 4 weeks in Nov/Dec.

Same with my Chipotle, who looks pathetically small being half-naked.

It's common for a hen to molt after being broody.

Good thought.

Most don't molt their first year, but broodiness often triggers a molt so it's not too unusual in that situation. :)
Geez, as if the month of being a broody witch wasn't enough! Poor thing. I made them some black beans in the slow cooker today to give as a treat the next few days. I am guessing it will get worse before better. Anything I should know other than high protein treats?

Giving animal/insect protein is usually thought to be helpful.
