My favorite rooster Peck has quit crowing! I have 2 other roosters who tend to pick on him. I want to find homes for them but I'm not having any luck. I'm pretty sure the time has to come to do away with them. Back to the point...is it possible that him being picked on is the reason for this???

It could be. Part of crowing is the roo standing up and saying, "Alright! Listen up! This is my territory, and these are my ladies! Don't come around here unless you want your tail handed to you!".

I have only one rooster. Nearly every time I leave the coop and close the door, he crows, as if to say, "And stay out!".

Yes, I think it is quite common for the roo lower on the pecking order to crow less or not at all. Back in April I got my roo from a woman that had more than one. She said this guy did not crow. But I got him home (where he is the only roo) and he started crowing like a champ!

I agree with the other posts. A smart subordinate roo may crow very little or not at all. To do otherwise means a butt whooping from the alpha roo.

Good news! we found someone to take one of our roosters! I'm pretty excited. One down one to go. We r thinking of using an old pet carrier to transport him....is that ok?
I really hope peck starts crowing again like your roos did. We really love him! Thanks for the replies!

As long as it's big enough for him to sit in there comfortably, it's fine. That's how I transported my roo for a half-hour drive.
