Hi all I’m new on here and very worried about my new silkie chick, she’s 5-6 weeks old I only got her last night and have noticed she isn’t right today. She is so sleepy, won’t walk and I think has an injured or broken wing?! I think this as she doesn’t hold it up like her other one and on the underside there are two lumps I have attached pics.. first pic is her good wing, second is her bad wing

I would give her electrolytes.
Homemade Electrolyte Recipe for Chicks
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons molasses OR 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon potassium chloride* (optional)
  • And give her honey and sugar water. If shes not drinking then water her with an eyedroper. And put the honey on her beak. And wet your finger and put chick crumbles on it for her to eat.

From a breeder, I had two others from him last month and they were perfectly healthy. I’ve asked him what it could be he is unsure?!

Thanks so much I’ll make some up for her now, I’ve been giving her water with a calpol syringe which she is taking from me

Well, if you just received him from a breeder then don't feel responsible for it's illness. It's the breeder's fault for not noticing the problem and selling you an sick chick. So if it doesn't pull through (which hopefully it will) don't think it's your fault! Good luck

Guys how much and how often do I give these fluids? I don’t want to over water her if that’s even possible!
