Ok so I have had my girl for 2 weeks now, she is a beautiful brahma but she looks so poorly. I noticed that's he has clear mucus coming out of her nose and bubbles coming out of her eyes, she then started being sick but again it was a clear mucus. We rang who we get her off (we have had others and they have been fine) and they said it could be stress of moving and they gave us some vitamins to give her.she has been on these for a week now and no change, if anything she is getting worse. Her comb is a very pale pink and she is groaning and making a weird growl out of her throat.

She is still eating and drinking but I am worried. I have tried giving her natural yoghurt and olive oil but she won't have it.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be as I am new to keeping chickens.

Thanks :)

You need to get her on Tylan 50 asap. If you do not have her by herself, then you may have to dose the whole flock... Not do, but may. Those 3 symptoms are classic MG, a respiratory illness that she will alway be a carrier of. It may be that, it may not be. Only a vet/state lab can verify that.
Tylan 50 can be purchased at most farm stores. Yes its for cattle/swine, but don't let that deter you. You can give orally or inject into breast muscle. Both ways will work. Tukwila need to also get the smallest possible needle as well. A bird that size will need 1/2 cc. Bantams will need 1/4 cc for three days.

Good luck.

I know how you feel. I have a 4 month old rooster and his leg is bad. He limps when he walks, but he runs and jumps fine. We took him to the vet, they took x-rays and said he was fine. I think he just grew too fast and is too heavy for his legs, or it's a birth defect. I know a lot of chicken diseases, but nothing like this. I would call a vet, like I did, just to see what it is, you don't want your other chickens to get it too. Good luck. Post something if you find out more about what it is.

I understand some can go in the breast muscle... The Tylan should be used 3-5 days, a different spot each time. Some you can do if you pinch the skin at the back of the neck. Some you can do oral. The Tylan can be done oral as well.
