I thought my Pekin duck was maybe getting broody. The drake has favoured her a lot, she has lost weight and us laying. She has been avoiding drake last couple of days, yesterday she hardly came out so I kept drake away, today she seems lethargic, is out not sitting but just standing around doing nothing. Last week eating lots and oyster shell now just sips of water. She has some eggs but I've removed some too. Am new to duck keeping and shess a rescue.....any ideas of what is going on?

I think maybe run down from too much attention from the drake. She could have eaten something toxic also but my first guess is the drake. Keep them separated but where they can see each other. If you can get her some Poultry Nutri drench that can help get her back on her feet so to speak. Make sure she has good feed and fresh water too. Can you please tell us what feed your using.

Fancy feeds layers pellets and generic duck food mix from local garden centre that does animal feed too. Water clean, pond cleaned weekly and use flytesofancy sanitising powder. I think it's the drake as have let her out in main run for exercise with him shut away but in sight after he just tried to mount and she ran off, was happy that I picked her up. Now qanderwan and dabbling.
