Hello - I have a 3 and a half year old pet chicken who we rescued from a neighbours flock as she is blind in one eye and being picked on by the flock. She had been unwell for a cooked days so I took her to the vet yesterday and she had sourcrop and impacted crop. The vet was great and he managed to clear the crop and flush out with saline twice. We have been home for 24 hours but she won’t eat anting at all but is drinking but she periodically bringing the water back up. Do any of you wonderful people have any advice on what we can do? We love her dearly and really want to help her recover. Thank you xxx

I would be giving probiotics, such as Greek Yogurt or the powders that are put in water like Hydro-Hen.

Here are two member articles on crops that should be helpful:

I hope she gets better. Welcome to BYC!!

thank you so much Debbie. As she won’t go near any foods at all (not even her favourites of scrambled egg or mealworms). Should we look to administer the yogurt by syringe? Also my worry is that her crop isn’t functioning properly because she keeps bringing the water back up so am I risking the yogurt sitting on her crop and coming back up which will be awful for her. Really don’t know which way to turn but am so grateful for you taking the time to reply x
