Im looking to add to my flock, and wondering what would be a popular breed to do? I breed and sell ducks, have chickens but don’t breed, wanting to start.

I know people like the colored eggs, and good layers as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok so there are many popular breeds but I’ll just name the ones who lay colorful eggs and lay well. For dark brown eggs you could get French copper marans or welsumers, the marans lay darker but welsumers are still dark too. Easter egger/Americuana lay green and sometime blue eggs. Arucana lay just blue eggs and have no tail but they are hard to find.

Best one would probably be an Easter egger, people are overly fascinated with the color of the eggs.Their also colorful and have beards.
Another breed I would suggest are Opringtons, classic brown layers but are popular and very sweet.

Also, the Rhode Island Red.This is probably the most popular bird out there, really due to egg laying but they have decent personalities.

I saw someone at the swap I went to this morning with some americuanas, I’ll see him at the next swap Saturday so I’ll probably be getting some of those!

I have a single Rhode Island Red hen and she lays great, she’s my neighbors favorite(give them eggs) and I’ve thought of getting another.

Thank you both for the help!!
