Boy if I don't fall asleep tonight I'm going to go hit
Walmart for more totes.
Awesome ideas and a big help to me right now.
I went to the auction today. Was a good girl. I bought a trio of Favs las week, and they had two more trios and a quad today and I sat on my hands.
But I got 5 nesting boxes for 5 bucks a piece. Prices were good today. Maybe not where my hen came in though. Took one of my games and got $6.75, but that's one less mouth to feed that I'm not using in a breeding program. Starting to do some culling. Boy this is hard too, but I started with a lot of space and now I need more. Someone's gotta go. LOL She did pay for a box though! Tryed to get on of those covered litter boxes, but that thing went for almost brand new price. I can do better than that.
I wish I still had the coops my husband had made me at our last house. We had only been here 4 months before he died and I had started bringing home more birds. He was trying to keep up, but he wasn't feeling well and was tired a lot. Wish we had known how bad it really was and he could still be here with me telling him what I want. He had made some really nice ones for me with my last flock. Most of what I have now started out as temperary and now I'm trying to at least get them done enough to protect my babies better.
I have some 5 gallon buckets I bought for waterers, but I messed up 2. Don't know why I couldn't get them right, but I'm thinking I can make some kind of shelter for some of my d'Uccle roos. Can't get a hen to save my life. They're tiny little guys and I know they could at least have a place to roost at night. Try to get an idea of how to do it. I may turn them upside down and seal the top on so no moisture gets in. Drill some holes in the top for ventilation" Not sure yet. But I think they would work in a pinch.
Now if I can rehome 2 silkie roos I won't have to worry about a new shelter for them.
I hope someone comes up with some more ideas here. It's fun to see what people can come up with when they need to.
