I know they are said to be rare, but 5 of my hens look SO much like the Catalans in your breed guide, & I do live in So CA, so it is possible they may be from breeding stock from south of the border.

I only access the Internet via my iPhone, so I can't post my pics on the board-is there anyone who is familiar with this breed I can email pics to or who would be willing to post a few pics in this thread for me? Thanks.

I do not have any Catalans but will give you a bump - hoping that others who may, will post pictures.

Thanks! I have tons of pics on my iPhone I can email to somebody if they have an email address they would be willing to share!

I now suspect 2 of the 5 are not Catalans but somethi g else-I thought they were maybe younger but they now appear to be peacombs. Their bodies are lighter than their necks and black tail feathers. The dark necked girls have light yellow legs, suspected catalans light grey.

All are laying light brown small eggs.

Speculation is welcome-I am home sick and have time to surf the net for pics on my phone-it gives me something fun to do.
Thx all...

I now have an account with Photobucket-search under my account name Iheartmyhens.

I believe the adult black hen is a black star. I don't know what the other 2 types are.

The chicks are two production reds and a black star-I just added the pics because they are cute!!!

Thank you for the suggestion on Photobucket-they have an app for that...

The bird in the last picture in the foreground, on the right, looks like she may have some Catalana ancestry in her. From the pictures that I've seen she looks similar, though I'm not sure of the others. They all look sort of Leghorn-ish, which would make sense because both birds are of Mediterranean origin... it could be though that you just have some Brown Leghorn crossess.

I'm no expert, just guessing. It would be cool if they were though, I love the Spanish breeds.

Bumping in hopes that somebody with a little more expertise chimes in.

Thanks Alice!

The hen with the dark neck is a peacomb, Isabella has a single comb. I was able to post 4 direct links of them at my other post What kind of hens are we.

I realize they are probably mixes/mutts, but I am SO curious-Thanks everybody!!!

Leghorn mix makes sense in some ways as they are very cautious and took a long time to calm down/they will still run away if I accidentially move suddenly...
