I have three hens, all of them about two years old. This afternoon, I opened the coop door to find one of my hens, a Barred Plymouth Rock, lying dead on the floor of the coop. There was no evidence that she had been attacked by a predator, she was just lying there, feet in the air, eyes glazed over, dead. There was no blood other than a little dried blood on her butt from the other chickens pecking at her, which I had seen before. Does anyone have any idea of how this could have happened??? She was very skiddish, and my least favorite chicken, but I'm still upset.
