Hello everyone, I have a small 2 year old bantam hen who seems to be egg bound. Her last egg was about a month ago. She looks hunched over. Her tail is slightly down. She hasn't eaten well but is drinking water. Her poop is watery and green. It feels like she has an egg. I've given her calcium citrate tablets, warm Epsom salt bath, cooked egg for her, and added mineral oil and Vaseline in her vent with no result.

I forgot to include that she has had reproductive issues before. Her diet consists of chicken feed, fresh fruits and veggies, worms, and she has access to calcium all day everyday. She is currently in quarantine and is in a quiet and warm area.

Isn't she cute!

I wouldn't feel for an egg anymore. I'd continue to give her the Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily, see that she's drinking well and staying hydrated.

A bath may help, but if she's lethargic this can be stressful and send them over the edge. Instead you can provide a heating pad set on low (cover with a towel) or place her in a steamed up bathroom.

Hopefully she'll be able to pass the egg soon. Keep us posted.

UPDATE: She laid a large, double yolk egg! She's doing good right now, thank you!!

Unfortunately she passed away the day after she laid the egg. I'm not sure what went wrong, she was fine after she laid but she passed away in her sleep. It wasn't disease since she was a very healthy hen up until her death, maybe a heart attack? Thank you for your help though, I really appreciate it.

:hugs I'm sorry to hear this.
