Good afternoon everyone. I have a chicken that is possibly egg bound for a week now.
I have never had a chicken with this issue before so if you can provide some insight that would be
wonderful. The vets in my area are not seeing chickens due to an outbreak of the bird flu.
She is showing all the traditional signs, walking like a penguin, pushing. She is eating and pooping normally.
I have tried everything I can think of. Epson salt baths, tums once a day, extra vitamins, lubricating the vent.
The egg has moved closer to the vent from the beginning of the week. I can feel it from the outside skin to the right of the vent,
you can see its shape through the skin. I just tried lubricating the vent. Out of desperation I placed my finger in the vent and I was able to feel the egg however it feels like there is some sort of slippery membrane between my finger and the egg.
Is this normal to not be able to feel the egg shell? Any ideas or suggestions as to what else I can do to help her move this egg.
Can it be stuck in another part of her body?
Thank you
