I believe my chicken is eggbound. shes been looking quite 'full" for the past few weeks. weve had her in the house, and gave her some calcium along with a warm bath. How long can a chicken be eggbound? I understand, now, that the above treatment needs to be done on a day to day basis. so we are keeping her inside, away from the others. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Egg bound hens don't look full generally, they look sick and hunched up. Those with ascites, or fluid build up in the body cavity will look full. Have you felt the bird to see if it feels water logged or if you can feel an egg in the pelvis region.

we have felt her belly and we now believe she has ascites. she was being picked on by the other chickens so we brought her in the house to be more comfortable.

That's too bad. Generally ascites means organ failure. Sorry. Some drain them, but I personally don't see the point, sorry.
