Help Please. 27 days ago 6 of my flock were killed by dogs, including my rooster. I have done research online and learned that sperm can live in a hen up to 30 days. My hens are 22 weeks old now. Yesterday I checked and had no eggs. Today I came home from work and found 7 eggs between 4 hens. No one was sitting on them. Should I take them out and put them in the fridge, or leave them in the coop and hope that they are fertile?
If you have an incubator, you can try incubating the eggs, but I doubt that any will be fertile. 4 weeks is on the outer limits of fertility after removal of a rooster. Your pullets will not be ready to set since they have just started laying,. If they were my eggs, I'd be having omelets.
